CARS microscopy


Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Scattering(CARS) is a powerful microscopy which can observe the cell and the special material in the tissue without labeling.CARS combines optical spectroscopy and microscopy.It provides a direct and noninvasive approach to visualizing nucleic acids,proteins,and other molecules at work in living cells. The image of generation is high sensitivity,high contast ,high speed,low photodamge and three-dimensional image.Because of the above advantage,making CARS begin useful technique.


CARS is a four wave mixing process in which a pump field ,a Stokes field,and a probe field interact with a sample and generate an anti-Stokes field.

Experimental setup 


Application of CARS in biological systems is mainly used to detect the C-H bond because of the large number of C-H bonds in the cell.


Actually, detection of CARS's signal is 650 nm,and energy level will react immediate,so lifetime of CARS's signal begin 0.
